INTERKOSMOS
THE RESEARCH

CONSTELLATIONS MUSICAL MAPS, a research by composer and geographer Marco Varvello that establish a scientific method for the sonification of stars, constellations and other space objects, whose data and position are transformed into musical elements, that the composer then uses as a starting point for the developing of dedicated compositions. The result is performed live in coincidence with the Jazz Composition postgraduate final exam, at Conservatorio Statale 'Giuseppe Verdi', Torino (IT). The ensemble is conducted by MºGiorgio Mirto. The work includes also a software called INTERKOSMOS, developed by Giovanni Corgiat and Piero Poli (Conservatorio di Torino) with the guidelines from the composer. With that software it is possible for other composers and scientist to share this research and create their own works based on this transposition system.
