Hi, I’m Marco Varvello — a film composer, music producer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Turin, Italy.
I create original soundtracks and custom scores for animation, feature films, series, documentaries, trailers, and multimedia projects. My mission is simple: to write music that speaks as powerfully as the images on screen.
I grew up surrounded by music, studying accordion and piano as a child. Over the years, I trained in music production, jazz, and film scoring with mentors like Academy Award-winner Luis Bacalov (The Postman, Django).
My style blends orchestral, electronic, folk, jazz, and experimental elements into cinematic compositions tailored to each story.
Music That Tells Your Story
Whether you’re working on a feature film, a short, a documentary or branded content, I compose bespoke soundtracks that amplify emotion, support narrative arcs, and create immersive sonic worlds.
My musical signature adapts to a diverse instrumental palette – from accordion and solo piano to strings, a full orchestra, or immersive electronic soundscapes. This versatility in color and style is consistently woven with the personal touch that defines my creations.

Untitled (2018)
Director: Comfort Arthur (Ghana)
Composed and produced by Marco Varvello
'Untitled' is a short poem that was anonymously posted online. It tells the stories of different women who have suffered different forms of sexual harassment. __
My journey on this project began when award-winning director Comfort Arthur approached me with the vision for her challenging and promising spoken-word animated short, seeking an original musical score, I eagerly embraced the challenge, captivated by the prospect of forging a dynamic interplay between voice and music. My vision was to move beyond providing a mere narrative underscore; I sought to make the words themselves—and their inherent meaning—truly resonate by accentuating their meter with a driving rhythm, akin to the structure of a rap track
The Dreamer (2016)
Director: Will Maloney (Usa)
'City Lights' composed and produced by Marco Varvello
Will, a long-time friend and talented Californian director, was here tackling one of his first ambitious works. The film follows a woman who relocates to the city following an accident, only to find her newfound tranquility threatened by an unsettling, recurring dream. For the closing credits piece, 'City Lights,' a processed accordion sound crafts an alienated, urban soundscape, setting the stage for a poignant trumpet solo by the acclaimed Giampaolo Casati.
VR Kinesis (2022)
VR Physiotherapy prototype by Oliver D'Adda
Original music composed and produced by Marco Varvello
Oliver D'Adda, a dear old friend with a unique blend of talents as a physiotherapist, VR programmer, musician, and voice actor, spearheaded the development of this innovative VR prototype for physiotherapy. So, when he approached me to compose the score, I embraced the opportunity with immense enthusiasm, deeply believing in the transformative potential of this VR application. The 'experience' is set in the Caribbean, inspiring me to design a musical backdrop that would distinctly evoke its geographical and cultural-musical identity. Crucially, the music’s tempo aligns with the user’s actions, tapping into their innate rhythmic sense and the engaging, gamified nature of the prototype to enhance the therapeutic physical benefits.
Pussy (2016)
Directed by Renata Gàsiörowska (POL)
Music RESCORE composed and produced by Marco Varvello
during MUSIC RIOT Film Composing contest
At the MUSIC RIOT film composition contest, hosted in Turin within the 2018 Lovers Film Festival, I had the opportunity to score a deeply personal and intimate animated short by Polish director Renata Gàsiorowska. Crafting the right soundscapes to underscore the protagonist's intense emotional passages was a captivating and fascinating endeavor. The exceptionally talented soprano Maria Valentina Chirico provided invaluable assistance, gracing the tracks with her stunning voice.
The work won the Music Riot contest, and soon we had the chance to perform it live at the Museo Nazionale del Cinema of Torino during the SEEYOUSOUND festival 2018
